CHINESE RESTAURANTS
What is chinese food
The Chinese restaurant refers to a restaurant that serves typical dishes of Chinese cuisine outside of China. Chinese food is one of the first so-called "ethnic" foods in Western countries. For example, Chinese restaurants have been known to exist in North America since the 19th century and London opened its first restaurant serving Chinese food in 1907, but the real boom in Chinese food has only been experienced since the 1980s.
The first Chinese restaurant in Finland started operations in the early 1950s and opened on the premises of Hotel Torn. The most long-standing of the existing Chinese restaurants are China Restaurant, which has been serving Chinese cuisine in downtown Helsinki since 1973. Over the past few decades, it has been relatively easy for us in Finland to enjoy Chinese food in many different restaurants, but especially in the 2000s, the number of Chinese restaurants has grown exponentially.
In a Chinese Mei Fun, diners usually have the option of eating their food either with chopsticks or with a knife and fork. Often you can order a drink from the restaurant, such as soda or wine, but many people choose water as their drink. If you wish, you can order a beer at many Chinese restaurants and many will end up tasting Chinese beer wherever possible. Tsingtao is one of the most popular beers in China and many restaurants have included it in their selection. If you want to dine in a particular Chinese way, it is probably the most common to order tea for your food. Another very typical feature of Chinese restaurant dining is that the dishes are ordered half-board. For example, a group of eight people can order from six to eight different dishes, which are placed in the middle of the table so that everyone can easily take their own dishes.
Chinese food is often geographically divided into different types of food cultures. For example, Cantonese cuisine in southern China is known for its bright sauces and animal protein use, Shanghai cuisine in the east for its sweet sauces in particular, Sichuan in western China for its hot and tofu, Shandong for its fish delicacies and Hunan's for its sour noodles. In addition, Fujian food, Jiangsu food and Zhejiang food are considered distinctive food cultures. Tibetan food is often simpler and includes delicious sauces served with boiled rice. Chinese restaurants in Western countries have traditionally served Cantonese cuisine, but other options have emerged in recent years. Nowadays, it is also possible to get completely authentic Chinese food - one that has not been adjusted in any way to suit the local taste. In this case, there may be a surprising amount of spice in the food.
Some of the most popular dishes in Chinese restaurants are the Beijing Duck, which is well-known for its heavy-duty work, but especially in Finland, many order chicken Kung Po, beef and mushrooms or chicken in the sour sauce from the Chinese restaurant list. Does it sound familiar?
